By now, Justin Solis’ ability to strike fear in the minds of opposing offensive players by his physical size is no secret. But not everyone knows how his mental toughness is channeled from an unlikely source; across generational boundaries. You can read more about it in this NY Times article:

There was literally lightning in the Northwestern sky 15 minutes prior to game time. Symbolism perhaps from the highest authority on Football? This much anticipated game was sold out in just 3 days. On Friday night October 1, 2010 in Westlake Village, a town of only 8,800; with a game televised live on Fox Sports, 6000 screaming fans filled the sold out Lions Stadium to watch the visiting Westlake Warriors play the Oaks Christian Lions in a rivalry that had yet to begin.

The Warriors are now 4-0 for the season, 3-0 in Marmonte League play and are on an 18-0 winning streak that began last season, a school record.

OCHS Game Q3 Drive

Warriors vs OCHS Game Q3 Drive

A band of wild Westlake Warrior football players and their coaching staff found their way to the Simi highlands and took some names while stampeding to a 38-0 victory over a Royal High School Football team that was unwilling to roll over, but eventually did. Tavior Mowry helped lead the stampede, gaining 112 yards on 17 carries behind an offensive line that continues to open some impressive holes in opposing defenses. On the other side of the ball, Michael Tack had the entire crowd standing on a 90 yard sprint for a touchdown right before the 1st half ended after literally picking a pass from the hands of a Highlander receiver at the Warrior 10 yard line.
Stampeding Warriors put fear in the hearts of opposing team.

The Warriors First and Second Defensive teams combine to shut out the Royal Highlanders.

“A good defense will bend but not break” – a quote of unknown origin, but an often used phrase by many a wise defensive coordinator. The photos below highlight some great defensive plays made in the recent Warrior victory over Royal:

Westlake Linebacker Shane Giraldo (#47) evades a double team to stop Royal Running Back at the line of scrimmage. No surprise that Giraldo is one of the Warriors tackling leaders. In a game that bore no resemblance to close contests of previous years between these two teams, the Warriors began scoring early and often to run up the score 34-0 at the half. While the fans of the Warrior Nation have become accustomed to the explosive and mutipronged offense led by a dominating offensive line,  it was the Defensive squad that completely drained the Chargers of any hope to be in the game. Two interceptions by Team Captain & linebacker Adrian Muguerza (#21), one for a touchdown were instrumental in leading the Westlake Defense in taking apart the Agoura Offense. Kudos to the entire Defensive squad. Great defensive plays were made by but not limited to: Michael Tack (#6), Johnny Stuart (#82), Shane Giraldo (#47), Mason Thibo (#28), Justin Solis (#57), Dallas Clayton (#12)

Senior Offensive Tackle and Team Captain Michael Lorenzo leads the Warrior Offensive  starting line with fellow seniors Taylor McMorrow (#61) at Guard, Brad Cotner (#67) Center,  Brendon Root-Burkes (#72) Guard, and Junior Zach Miller (#76) who overpowered the Chargers defense the entire game.
