In what continues to be the most watched High School Football Game in Fox Sports History. The Warriors entered the Lions Den for the 2nd time in the season to face Oaks Christian to determine the 2010 CIF Southern Section Northern Division Championship. The Lions squeaked away with a 29-28 win in a battle that lasted until the final play of the game.
The Warriors were the defending CIF SS ND Champions and seeking their first ever back to back CIF Championships. The Lions were no stranger to being in CIF Championship Games as they had won 6 of their own in the 10 years prior to joining the Marmonte League.
The Warriors defeated St. Bonaventure 37-27 on Friday, December 3rd while Oaks Christian beat the Valencia Vikings 42-33 at College of the Canyons on the same night. Together these teams are 2/3 owners of the Marmonte League Crown with St. Bonaventure. This was the first ever CIF Championship match up between these two schools and have only met once before, earlier in the season on October 1, 2010 with the Warriors winning that game, also televised on Fox Sports West / Prime Ticket. This was the 2nd season in a row featuring 2 Marmonte League teams in the CIF Southern Section Northern Division Championship Game.
A Sold Out Crowd of 5500 at Warrior Stadium witnessed another phenomenal display of high school football action. St. Bonaventure and Westlake did not disappoint anyone in this literally made for TV (Fox Sports West / Prime Ticket) High School Game of the Week. (Click to See Video!) This game will be talked about for a long time as Nick Isham’s star shined brightly making several clutch plays in leading the Warriors over the Seraphs. Many warriors contributed to the win in a true to form Band of Brothers victory. Nelson Spruce, Tre Wilson, Cody Tuttle, Deshon Hunt, Jared Fry, Tavior Mowry and Alex Ball all made great plays behind the offensive line that can no longer hide in the shadows. Kudos to Offensive Line Keith Ramljak, Javier Aguilera, Anthony Davanzo, Tony Mekari, Brandon Grady, Jordie Hannel and Zach Miller who provided tremendous dominance in the trenches. The defensive side bent but never broke behind the great play making of Justin Solis, Johnny Stuart, David Ortiz, Casey Bliss, Max Winsberg, Dashon Hunt, Jack Shepard, Jose Muguerza, Lukas Fancy, Waz Dupris, Justin Moore and Shane Henley.

Produced by Tim McGrath exclusively for the Westlake Warrior Football Boosters and Alumni Club.
By now, Justin Solis’ ability to strike fear in the minds of opposing offensive players by his physical size is no secret. But not everyone knows how his mental toughness is channeled from an unlikely source; across generational boundaries. You can read more about it in this NY Times article:
Rematch. Redemption. Intensity. Intrigue. There are enough adjectives to describe this upcoming game to please any English teacher looking for a new rubric before the semester ends. One thing is certain; these two teams have already produced the most exciting football game in Ventura County this year and all the marbles are on the table now. Pre Sale Tickets on sale NOW at both schools.
It was black Friday in a bad way for the visiting Palos Verdes Sea Kings Football Team and their fans. Those who made the trip North up the 405 and 101 to Westlake High Schools’ Warrior Stadium on another cold Friday night saw how much the Warriors can heat up the field when they turn the afterburners on, again and again.
“Mowry carried 11 times for 111 yards, Isham reached the 300-yard passing plateau by going 13 for 15 and Westlake kicker Alex Ball was a perfect 7 for 7 on extra points. Jared Fry caught two passes for 48 yards, Cody Tuttle had two for 53 yards and Tre’Shon Wilson hauled in four aerials for 41 yards.”
Congratulations to Tavior Mowry for breaking the Warriors ALL Time Touchdown record during the game.
Thanks to The Tuttle Family, Tony Panzica of Action Photos and Westlake Warrior Football Alumni Darren Scheid for sponsoring the live game broadcast on Ustream !
Scoring early and often, Senior Nick Isham, behind his seasoned but young offensive line and his Senior partners in “Score, Inc” – Tavior Mowry and Nelson Spruce led the Warriors to an easy 58-8 game in which nearly every Warrior saw playing time. Other Warriors making notable offensive contributions include, but were not limited to: Treshon Wilson, Cody Tuttle, Jared Fry, Dashon Hunt, Justin Moore, Geoff Carr, Trevor Wood and Adam Augustyn.
The defensive squad was also stellar as usual, keeping the Knight Hawks stymied all night with mostly 3 downs and a punt. The only Knight score was set up by an offensive miscue deep in Warrior territory. The big D was led by Defensive Lineman Justin Solis and Johnny Stuart, Linebackers Max Winsberg and Jack Shepard. Significant contributions on the DEE-Fence were made by many Warriors throughout the game including Seniors Waz Dupris, Lukas Fancy, Jimmy Hopkins, Jamie Forster and Team Captain Adam Lazar
Many thanks to all the loyal Warrrior fans who braved the longest trip for a CIF playoff game in recent memory (at least 3 years from this writer’s memory). Yes, we know some of you made the trip in a luxury recliner “Fan bus” to and from Palmdale for the playoff game on Friday vs. Knight High School, but once there the wind chill factor was enough to rate as the 2nd coldest playoff game in 2 years.
The CIF SS Northern division playoff brackets were released Sunday, November 14, 2010. The Warriors to play William Knight High School in Lancaster in their Round 1 CIF game this Friday, November 19, 2010 at 7:30 pm
The Westlake Warriors started fast and never looked back in their win over Calabasas High School in the Coyotes’ home stadium and their Marmonte 2010 league finale. Led by senior quarterback Nick Isham, the Warriors looked as sharp as they have all season, despite playing a Coyote Football team who had their best season in recent history in a much tougher Marmonte League. The Warriors, to their credit racked up a 35-0 lead in the first quarter before taking their foot slightly off the accelerator pedal of “The Big Blue Tribe” to cruise to a 56-6 win and into the CIF playoffs, finishing the season tied for 1st place with St. Bonaventure and Oaks Christian.
It will be remembered and talked about for years as a classic game from start to finish between two top notch Ventura County High School Football programs. Coach Todd Theirrien’s “all or nothing” gamble paid off when the Seraphs successfully completed a two point conversion after their TD in the 2nd overtime to beat the Warriors and end their 22-0 win streak. Westlake had not lost a game in almost 2 years, dating back to a CIF SS Quarter Final loss to Valencia to end the Warriors 2008 season.
The game was played in front of a packed Westlake Warrior Stadium crowd and streamed live to a record 235 viewers over the fledgling “all volunteer” production team for the WHS Football Network. The game is also being replayed over the weekend on multiple Cable TV channels. You can view all types of videos and articles at the links below:
In a year when Marmonte League games were beginning to get predictable, another potentially unpredictable game at Agoura Hish School seemed well…refreshing. And, being the same weekend as Halloween – you kinda thought something spooky would happen. Uh, no and no. The Westlake Warriors continue marching to the beat of a different drummer as they extended the schools longest winning streak to 22-0 and commanded top spot in the Marmonte League and #1 rank in the CIF SS Northern Division.
QB Nick Isham, Running Back Tavior Mowry, Wide Receiver Nelson Spruce and Running Back Geoff Carr all scoring at least 1 touchdown. Alex Ball converted all 7 PATs.
A packed Newbury Park Panther stadium on a cool overcast night was the setting as the Panthers looked to unseat the Warriors from their Marmonte League top perch.
Westlake cruised to a school record 20th straight win in what was hoped to be a repeat matchup of similar intensity to the CIF SS 2009 title game from last December. But, it was not that at all. This time the Warriors were not the underdogs, they were coming in ranked #3 in CA and in the top 10 nationwide. Could Moorpark pull off a win over the overconfident Warriors? Uh, No. Not even close. It’s actually rather remarkable that in less than 12 short months, the Westlake Warriors have outscored the Moorpark Musketeers in each of the three contests pitting the Marmonte League rivals against one another. I will have to research to see if that has ever happened at all. The Marmonte League ain’t what it used to be – Nope, everything is upside down and sideways. What? You didn’t hear that Calabasas beat Newbury Park tonight?
How did Westlake continues its winning streak? Well, some but not all highlights are listed below:
First Quarter: Nick Isham had a 7-yard touchdown run.
Second Quarter: Tavior Mowry scored on a touchdown run. Nick Isham threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Nelson Spruce
Third Quarter: Nick Isham threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Nelson Spruce. Tavior Mowry ran for a 1-yard score.
Fourth Quarter: Moorpark scored on a 14-yard Grant Rohach pass to Lionel Poole and a 5-yard run by Garrett Dibene.

There was literally lightning in the Northwestern sky 15 minutes prior to game time. Symbolism perhaps from the highest authority on Football? This much anticipated game was sold out in just 3 days. On Friday night October 1, 2010 in Westlake Village, a town of only 8,800; with a game televised live on Fox Sports, 6000 screaming fans filled the sold out Lions Stadium to watch the visiting Westlake Warriors play the Oaks Christian Lions in a rivalry that had yet to begin.
The Warriors are now 4-0 for the season, 3-0 in Marmonte League play and are on an 18-0 winning streak that began last season, a school record.
